Ski Holidays in Avoriaz
Avoriaz is the part of the massive ski domain called Portes du Soleil. Located are 1800m Avoriaz ski resort is a purpose built modern ski resort with a car free village. Located high in the French Alps on the border with Switzerland this is a truly amazing ski area. The ski area is so vast that the skiing and snowboarding seems to go on forever. Being so high in the Alps means that Avoriaz has an excellent snow record, with perfect conditions guaranteed throughout the ski season. The resort has something to offer all skiers but is particular well suited to intermediate skiers. As a purpose built resort almost all of the Avoriaz accommodation is ski-in ski-out which is a big benefit whether you are staying in a ski apartment or a chalet in Avoriaz.
For beginners there are plenty of nursery slopes and easy wide green runs close to the village center which makes if very convenient. For intermediate skiers and boarders the sky is the limit, with a huge amount of blue and red runs linking all the villages in the Portes du Soleil area. You can ski all day between village like Morzine, Chatel, and Les Gets to mention just a few. With 14 villages in the ski area there is a huge amount of kilometers to be skied. Expert skiers and free riders won’t be disappointed either as there is lots of great off piste with 4 new “snowcross” runs to keep experts busy. If you are up for a challenge try the Swiss Wall run into Switzerland. As the birthplace of snowboarding you won’t be disappointed by what Avoriaz has to offer in the way of snow parks and unpisted areas.
Avoriaz Accommodation
A lot of the ski accommodation in Avoriaz consists of ski apartments although there are still some chalets to rent in Avoriaz. As the village is traffic free everything is pretty close together so getting around is not a problem. A team of ski mobiles is available to taxi you around the resort should you need it especially if you are carrying luggage.

Summer in Avoriaz
Avoriaz likes to called itself the summer playground of the Alps. It is very popular for mountain biking, walking, climbing and white water sports. There are over 1000km of mountain bike trails through the Portes du Soleil with access from 24 ski lifts making this the largest mountain biking area in the world. In late spring and early summer as the snow melts the place is a mecca for white watering rafting, canyoning, hydrospeeding and kayaking. The walking trails fan out from Avoriaz in all directions offer a multitude of route through the Alpine landscape. The views of Mont Blanc and Les Dents du Midi are truly amazing. You can also go hiking with donkeys if that takes your fancy. For something more relaxing you can visit Aquariaz the indoor mountain water park featured tropical vegetation, massage areas, climbing walls, water slides and much much more.
