About Sainte Foy

With our superb location, we are within very easy reach of the classic resorts and we will be very happy to help and advise you on how to get the best from your winter holiday.

Sainte Foy
Just 10 minutes drive from the chalet, Ste Foy has been described as "the best kept secret in the Alps". Quiet and unspoilt with beautifully groomed and sunny tree lined pistes and typical rustic Savoyard restaurants on and off the mountain, it is a wonderful resort for families (children under 7 ski free) but also has fantastic off-piste potential with some of the routes coming back to the door of the chalet.

Val d'Isere/Tignes (Espace Killy)
The linked area of Val d'Isere and Tignes, with over 300km of snowsure piste skiing, is just 20 minutes drive from the chalet and can be accessed via Tignes Les Brevieres or Val d'Isere itself. It needs no introduction and has something to suit everyone. Cruisy blues, challenging off-piste, world class snow parks. Plenty of posing and people watching too in the many restaurants and bars and excellent shops and nightlife.

Les Arcs/La Plagne (Paradiski)
We are just 3km from the ski lift at Villaroger which links into the Paradiski system offering hundreds of miles of trails and downhill pistes to explore and terrains to suit all abilities.

La Rosiere/La Thuile
La Rosiere is a great choice on a sunny day. Sharing the San Bernardo ski area with La Thuile La Rosiere offers 2 massive sun bowls to ski, one in France, the other in Italy. Very popular with our guests who want to pop over into Italy for a pizza or pasta lunch and the lifts are just 10 minutes from the chalet.

Activities near Sainte Foy

Road Biking and Mountain Biking / Mountain Walks and Hiking Trips.............

If you have not experienced an alpine summer holiday before you will be very pleasantly surprised. The wonderful ambient temperatures, lush vegetation, beautiful wild flowers, spectacular scenery and clear air make it perfect for a summer getaway. Here in the Tarentaise Valley we have it all and there are so many activities to choose from depending how energetic you want to be. You can simply relax in Chalet Pecchio's private garden and soak up the stunning view or summer sporting activities on our doorstep include numerous and spectacular mountain walks and hikes, mountain biking, road biking, via ferrata, canyoning, swimming, adventure parks (ideal for children), horseback riding, summer skiing, golf and tennis.

Although situated in a very traditional French alpine village, Chalet Pecchio is only a 10 minute drive from the Col du Petit St Bernard and the border with Italy. So if you feel like following in the footsteps of the Tour de France, you can cycle from here up to the Col and over into Italy for a pasta lunch, ice cream or cappuccino. Alpine summers are also the time when there are lots of local concerts, fêtes and wine fairs.

If you are travelling the Route des Grandes Alpes, we are an ideal stopover as we are directly on the route.

Cycling Holidays:
For the keen road cyclist we are ideally placed to soak up the atmosphere of one of the world's most renowned road cyclists' areas and to follow some of the classic Tour de France stages. We can help you with route planning and provide you with a healthy and substantial breakfast to set you on your way and packed lunch if requested.

Alternatively book in for a great mountain biking holiday. The Tarentaise Valley is renowned for mountain biking with scores of marked routes. During the peak months of July and August the lift systems operate in Tignes, Les Arcs and La Rosiere, increasing the possibilities even more. Ste Foy operates a shuttle bus service to drop off and collect mountain bikers.

If you do not want to bring your own bike, we can easily point you in the direction of rental shops in Bourg St Maurice or La Rosiere.

We can be more flexible during the summer months and offer whole chalet bookings or by the room. We usually provide B&B with the option of evening meals if booked in advance. We can also provide packed lunches if required.

Mountain Walks and Hiking Holidays:
The walking in the Tarentaise, Maurienne and Beaufortain Valleys is superb and the opportunities are almost limitless and can start from right outside our door. We have alpine meadows, which in late June and July are carpeted with a spectacular display of mountain flowers, lakes, forests, glaciers and beautiful clear air between the Vanoise National Park, Mont Blanc Massif and the neighbouring Gran Paradiso in Italy.

A variety of walks and treks are possible amongst this outstanding alpine scenery. They vary from moderate to challenging in nature, and use a network of trails totalling more than 600km in length. There are a host of protected species including the largest population of alpine ibex in France, plus chamois, marmottes, birds of prey and over 100 species of birds in general.

Between the high mountains and the forests and valleys below lie the "alpages"; the traditional summer pastures. Herds of cattle, sheep and goats graze peacefully with bells tinkling.

It would take a lifetime to walk all the permutations of the tracks around this valley. The rugged and varied nature of the terrain here means that we can walk through pine forests, alpine meadows and high mountainous areas. The white peaks and glaciers provide an incredible contrast to the lush greens in the valley below and wild flowers give amazing splashes of colour.

Also explore the beautiful Massif du Beaufortain, situated only about 20km south-west of the imposing bulk of Mont Blanc. It retains an authentic charm where traditional Savoyard wooden chalets blend into the hillsides. The alpine pastures are grazed by herds of cows and goats producing the renowned local cheeses. Stunning views of Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Western Europe, and the surrounding mountains are almost guaranteed.

We are extremely flexible with the arrangements for our walking holidays and can offer guided walks or we can provide detailed walking routes for self-guided holidays. We can suggest overnight trips between refuges if you want more of a challenge. Why not walk one day in France and the next in Italy? We can offer half board or bed and breakfast accommodation and daily packed lunches if required.
