Echarlod is a hamlet in the medieval village of La Salle, entranceway to the Valley of Mont Blanc, at 1,000m.
The view over the Mont Blanc chain from here is exceptional, in an extremely scenic natural context.
It is 15km (15 minutes' drive) from Courmayeur, located on the Italian side of Mont Blanc, with with fourteen 4,000m+ mountain peaks visible. The resort altitude is 1,225m, with 100km of pistes from 1,210m to 2,755m. It is an attractive, atmospheric resort brimming with history and charm, with good shops, restaurants and bars, and a good après-ski scene. It has access to the world’s longest lift-served run, the Vallée Blanche. The pistes are good for intermediate skiers, and good off-piste and heliskiing is available too. The Courmayeur lift pass also covers the Chamonix and Argentière ski areas.
Between La Salle and Courmayeur is the famous Roman spa village of Pré Saint Didier, with a luxury spa and treatment centre still drawing hot water from the heated source.
