Lovingly restored, Grande Blanchette has bags of quirky alpine character, lots of modern comforts and fantastic mountain views. Short breaks and flexible catering options possible. We own the chalet and manage it ourselves, and have a strong eco-friendly ethos, including giving discounts to vegetarians and train-travellers. Our food is largely made from scratch using good quality, ethically sourced ingredients, including organic red meat, free range chicken and eggs, and local dairy where possible. The chalet is ideal for big groups (minimum group size is 10). There's a large sitting room and a dining room, a library snug, large raised decks and balconies, an outdoor sauna, and a hot tub (subject to a supplement). It's just 5 mins drive from the ski lifts in our private on-demand minibus, or catch the village shuttle instead. You can also ski back off-piste (forest track, guide advisable).
Located in a quiet mountain hamlet just below Plagne Montalbert on the La Plagne side of Paradiski, our charming chalet is perfect for people who love good skiing and staying in a quaint alpine village. It's the ideal spot for a peaceful winter escape. Despite being so close to the slopes, the hamlet has managed to stay hidden and undeveloped. You feel a million miles away from the outside world – no traffic, no bars, and no shops. We take you to the lifts and back in our private on-demand minibus, just 5 mins / 2 miles away in Plagne Montalbert. There's also a ski school, ski hire places, several shops, bars and restaurants.
The chalet has 5 bedrooms with private bathrooms, and, if more space is required, a small room with pull down double bed (room filled when it's down), and sleeping platform off the sitting room. The majority of the rooms have twin beds that can be joined to make a large double (160-180cm wide).
THE CATERED SERVICE
Our food philosophy is very much about tasty home cooking with a conscience. Dishes are made from scratch and use good quality, ethically sourced ingredients where possible, including: organic or local red meat; free range chicken and eggs; local cheeses; and bottled wines from small regional producers. We love catering for vegetarians and vegans too.
Our catered service includes:
1. Self-service breakfast buffet with a choice of tea, coffee or herbal tea; fresh fruit, bread, jams and fruit juice; a selection of cereals; and a daily changing special (every day)
2. Delicious home made afternoon cake or biscuits (every day except staff day off)
3. Three course dinners served with good quality bottled house wines from traditional producers in the Rhone valley (on 6 nights, eat out at your own expense on the day off)
4. Early 2 course supper for children if required
Following dinner, coffee, tea or herbal teas are served in front of the fire in the main sitting room.
