As with all our accommodation the chalet is great value and will appeal to budget minded skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts.

As with Chalet Chardons, we work hard to create a friendly atmosphere in the chalet and over the years skiiers and snowboarders have made many new friends whilst staying here. The chalet staff are on hand during dinner and breakfast and a three course evening meal with wine helps to make a relaxing end to the day.

The chalet is quite roomy and is arranged over the lower three floors of the Hauts Hattiers building. Most bedrooms have south facing balconies overlooking the village and slopes and there is a comfortable lounge with Television/DVD setup. On the lower floor there is a wood clad dining room and kitchen and ski store.

The Chalet sleeps up to 21 people and can be combined with the apartments on the upper floor to add an extra 18 beds to make up to 39 beds in total. The rooms are arranged as follows:-

3 Bedrooms for up to four, all with en-suite bathrooms with WC
2 twin rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms with WC
1 family room comprising a twin/double room with another twin/double room accessed through this room. Both rooms share an en-suite bathroom with WC
1 double room with en-suite bathroom with WC
Extra capacity can be added by booking the apartments in the same building.

During your stay you will be looked after by your personal chalet hosts who will cook meals, clean the accommodation and ensure you have an enjoyable stay. The menu is similar to that at Chalet Chardons but taken in a more traditional alpine chalet environment. See the food page for a typical menu and please note that in Chalet Hattiers your ski and snowboard holiday price includes continental breakfast with a hot option everyday and three course evening meal with wine on 6 days. With this addition to our range of lodgings we are offering an alternative style of holiday from Chalet Chardons with more luxury but the same great atmosphere, fun staff and informal environment and of course the same great value skiing and snowboarding holiday prices. You will benefit from all the advantages of Chalet Chardons clients with regard to cheap ski and snowboard hire, reductions in lift pass prices, reductions in our après ski bars and access to our knowledgeable reps who will be able to organise your skiing and snowboarding holiday needs.

Afternoon tea is served in the Chalet from 4.45pm for tea, coffee and either biscuits or cake. If you feel like settling into some apres ski, Chalet Chardons is only one minute's walk away. The hotel resident's bar (open to Chalet Hattiers clients as well) is open each day from 4 pm. As well as serving the usual selection of drinks, the bar plays music and shows skiing and snowboarding videos and has Sky Sports if there is an important match or event on. Bar snacks are available to tide you over till mealtime.

The main office for our resort operations is also located in the Chardons where you will find the resort manager each morning and evening who can organise cheap ski hire, reduced rate ski passes and other resort services for you.

Hauts Hattiers is available for rent either exclusively for larger groups on a fixed weekly rate or we will fill it ad hoc on other weeks, Saturday to Saturday.

About Tignes Les Brevieres

Tignes - skiing and snowboarding the French Alps

As a part of the ski resort of Tignes, which boasts the largest glacier skiing in Europe, we have a long winter season from early November, when the first ski and snowboard race groups turn up to train, to the start of May when Tignes les Brevieres closes. The glacier opens for summer skiing, snowboarding and fun park action and all through the autumn. Snow cover is not an issue, as even the glacier boasts 50 km of runs, whilst the whole Espace Killy claims 300 km of runs, nearly 100 lifts and almost unlimited off-piste ski and snowboard potential. Tignes les Brevieres is a first class skiing and snowboarding resort.

Tignes lies at the top of the Tarentaise valley and is made up of five hamlets, Tignes les Breviere, Tignes le Bois, Tignes le Lavacet, Tignes le Lac and Tignes Val Claret. The ski area is linked with Val d Isere to form the famous Espace Killy ski area. The hamlets of Le Bois, Lavacet, le Lac and Val Claret began their lives when the Tarentaise river was dammed flooding the old village of Tignes and forming the Lac Chevail. A number of evicted villagers began to develop the Tignes that we know today and with the help of the famous French skier Jean Claude Killy linked it with the neighbouring village of Val d Isere to form the extensive ski area of the Espace Killy. The Ski area provides for skiers of all abilities, with some 350km of marked pistes, glacier skiing, and numerous bowls and untracked areas for the off piste lovers. It really is an area that you can return to each year and find new areas to ski.

The Skiing
The Espace Killy ski area is popular with both skiers and boarders. The area caters well for all abilities, with some 350 km of marked pistes ranging from gentle blues up to technical black runs. The area links the villages of Tignes and Val d Isere and sits in the Vanois national park, giving stunning views of large undisturbed natural beauty. The area is also high enough to guarantee good snow conditions.

Beginners are well catered for with nursery slopes in Les Breviere, Le Lac and Val Claret. All these nursery slopes have the added advantage of being served with ski lifts that are free to use, enabling beginners to gain all the necessary skills at no cost before heading off to try the numerous blues in the area. Once the basic skills have been mastered then the Palafour chairlift whisks beginners away into an area with numerous blue runs to practice on. These blues either wind their way gently back into le Lac, or for the more adventurous there are blue runs which link into both Val Claret and Le Breviere from this chairlift.

The Espace Killy ski area has a wide variety of marked pistes that will keep intermediates happy each day of their holiday. Spend a few days exploring the areas of the Grand Motte, Toviere and L’Aiguille Percee, areas which all surround the hamlets of Tignes. Runs such as Double M of the glacier and cyclamen from the L’Aiguille Percee are not to be missed. For those intermediates wishing to step out of their comfort zone, perhaps tick off the blacks of Trolles and Sache. The Solaise and Fornet bowls above Val d’Isere also offer the intermediate both excellent and challenging skiing. Enjoy skiing on the second glacier in the area with its wide range of blues and red runs.

The Espace Killy area has enough of both challenging pistes and off piste bowls to keep even the most adventurous advanced skier/boarders happy. Blacks such as Leisse, situated on the Grand Motte glacier, the face, coming of the Rocher de Bellevarde into Val d’Isere and the mogul field known as silene will keep you amused for hours. For those of you who enjoy off piste why not enjoy the easily accessible bowls of Vallon de la Sache or the Fornet bowls. However to really experience some of the untracked off piste areas why not hire an off piste guide from Top Ski.
