Nendaz provides great skiing, excellent tuition and guiding at every level, competitive rates for ski hire and passes and access to a whole range of other ski areas for skiers. Lying on a sunny terrace above the Rhone Valley, Nendaz boasts everything a wonder sports enthusiast could want.
Nendaz provides access to the whole Four Valley’s region of 414 km of pistes and altitudes ranging from 1,350m to the 3,330m – and beyond to Bruson, Evolene, La Tzoumaz, Siviez, Thyon les Collons, Verbier and Veysonnaz.
The 3,330m summit of the Mont Fort Glacier can challenge even the most experienced off-piste skier and provides excellent snow conditions from December until the end of April.
Nendaz is equally spectacular during the summer months. Whether it be mountain biking, walking, paragliding or swimming, there is plenty for everyone.
With 410 km of runs and 89 lifts covered by a single lift pass, Les 4 Vallées ski area is seemingly infinite. Its wealth of activities, reliable snow cover and sun-kissed slopes make it an exceptional destination in more ways than one! Culminating at the top of the Mont-Fort glacier (3,330 m), the ski area is a paradise for all winter sports enthusiasts, whether expert or beginner. Open from November until the end of April, it links the resorts of Verbier, La Tzoumaz and Bruson, as well as Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon.
A modern holiday resort has grown up all around the centre of this delightful old Valais village, with its traditional timber houses, barns and grain stores. Siviez 8 km to the south in the Nendaz valley, also belongs to this community. Lifts run from here to Mont Fort, at 3330m the highest peak of the "Les 4 Vallees" (Four Valleys) ski resort.
Nendaz offers a richly varied children's programme and has been awarded the "Families Welcome" seal of quality. There are child-minding facilities for toddlers, toy hire, craft programmes, footpaths suitable for pushchairs, and playgrounds.

There are 250km of walks to reach the summits. Discover the natural wealth of the region at your own pace. In Summer you can discover the area on foot via the network of Bisses, which are paths that run alongside ancient irrigation canals and have the advantage of being on a slight incline providing very enjoyable walking. They pass through mountain pastures and woodland and provide stunning views of the valleys, villages and mountains. Nendaz offers 98km of walks along 8 Bisses. As one of the biggest raspberry and apricot growing areas in Switzerland, Nendaz has dedicated one of the local themed trails to fruit growing. There is also a hike to some of the biggest Larch trees in Europe on the Balavaux Alp (Iserables), or if you have the taste for the exotic, take a stroll through the Japanese Garden. Nendaz is the ideal region for mountain biking and has tracks for amateurs and advanced bikers. There are 10 circuits which are available from the Tourist Office. Guided tours are organised during the Summer. Downhill bikers are able to reach the summits by using the lift system. Bikes are allowed on the lift system of Nendaz and Mont Fort free of charge. Their shop is situated next to the large Co-Op Supermarket.
The Paragliding School offers tandem flights,instruction flights or a complete training course. Often paragliders can be seen flying above the garden of Chalet Maretse! The Aerocentre & Paragliding School's tel. no is .
The Golf Club at Sion is a 20 minute drive. It is an 18-hole course and the Club organises a beginners course which includes instruction by a golf professional and equipment as well as an aperitif. Call to book.
There are 2 tennis courts and a Sports Centre in Nendaz. Also an outdoor swimming pool (25 degrees) with a paddling pool with superb views over the Rhone Valley.
There are several vineyards that can be visited in villages along the Rhone Valley close to Conthey, about 30 minutes away. Giraud Vins on the right just before entering Sion is a convenient place to stop for tasting & purchasing the wines of this area.
