Nendaz lies on a sunny terrace above the Rhone Valley near Sion, the capital of the Valais.
Nendaz has everything a winter sports enthusiast could want, being at the heart of the ‘Four Valleys’ ski region (Verbier, Veysonnaz, Nendaz, La Tsoumaz & Thyon) with 412km of pistes and 92 lifts.
During the summer:
The resort is popular with bikers and hikers.
Around Nendaz there are approximately 250 kilometres of hiking trails, a network of paths running from the orchards in the valley up to the high alps.
Nendaz also has a network of ancient irrigation ditches, these "bisses" have 98 km of paths running along them.
Nendaz is a Mecca for mountain bikers - the lift system gives access to the exhilerating "Tour du Mont Fort".
Ideally located in front of the Telecabine and Siviez bus stop.
Bars, restaurants, supermarket and Ski hire in the immediate vicinity. Town centre 200m.
The resort is very accessible. Geneva airport is only a 1.5 hours drive, alternatively, trains run regularly from the airport to Sion, where you can catch a Poste Bus or Taxis to Nendaz (20 minutes). Short breaks and ski weekends are therefore very possible.
Nendaz is the perfect place to explore the vast 4 Valleys ski region encompassing Verbier, Veysonnaz, Nendaz, La Tsoumaz & Thyon. Nendaz is considerably cheaper than Verbier and far better placed, being right in the centre of Les 4 Vallées.
The variety of skiing is tremendous and all standards of skiers are well catered for.
For those interested in venturing further afield the options are limitless. Either ski the link from Tracouet to Siviez via Plan-Du-Fou or take the ski bus to Siviez. From Siviez you have the choice of heading right to Verbier or left to Thyon/Veysonnaz.
At 3,300m, the Mont-Fort is the highest point of the 4-Valleys. It is famous for its bump runs, all too visible from the cable car as you ride up to the top of the mountain. Skiers in Nendaz can access Mont–Fort more quickly than those staying in Verbier so on powder days you can get the first tracks in!
Verbier also has some fantastic intermediate skiing in the bowls around Lac du Veau.
The Piste towards Veysonnaz and Thyon tend to be quieter than those on the Verbier side and yet they offer something for every standard.
Begginers and early intermediates can ski from Thyon to Verbier without skiing anything harder than a blue!
If you are looking for off piste or free ride challenges then the 4 valleys spoil you for choice. Try the numerous itinerary runs (shown yellow/black on piste map) or head off backcountry .
Return to Nendaz by either the Plan du Fou ski link or by the ski bus from Siviez. There is only one drop off point outside the apartment.
