Serious bus crash in the Alps

April 16, 2013

In breaking news, today a bus carrying UK ski holidaymakers has crashed and burst into flames on the road just below Alpe d'Huez. Tragically the bus driver has died but miraculously nobody else died as the bus crashed down the mountainside and burst into flames. Several people were reported as jumping from the bus while it moved. The injured have been taken to local hospitals but all are in a stable conditions.

The exact cause of the accident is unknown but reports suggest that the brakes on the bus may have failed. The steep road from Alpe d'Huez has over 20 sharp hairpin turns and it is not uncommon for vehicles to encounter problems with overheating or failed brakes.
