First snow arrives in Bulgaria for 2012/13 ski season

Monday night saw the arrival of the first snow fall across the Rila and Pirin mountain ranges in Bulgaria. In Borovets ski resort the snow fall was down to about 1600m and covered the Yastrebets and Markujik pistes with a dusting of 2-3cm. In Bansko the top runs near Todorka and Platoto were also covered in the fluffy stuff. The 2012/13 ski season in Bulgaria opens in the middle of December so it is good to see snow this early. If you haven’t booked a ski holiday yet, then you might fancy an apartment in Borovets or a chalet in Bansko. In related news Easyjet have just announced new twice weekly flights from London Stansted to Sofia airport. The first flights on the new route are due to start in mid February 2013 just in time for the second half of the ski season. This adds to the existing Easyjet flights between Sofia and both London Gatwick and Manchester. Wizz air also offer cheap ski flights from London Luton to Sofia.
