St Anton Ski Resort
St Anton is one of the top ski resorts in Europe with a large ski area covering almost 300km and including the alpine villages of St Christoph, Zürs and Lech. The town which is active both in winter and summer offers some of the best skiing in Austria. Located just an hour from Innsbruck, in the Arlberg ski region (the largest in Austria), the resort offer miles and miles of beautifully groomed pistes alongside more challenging off piste and free ride areas.
For expert skiers and boarders you will find yourself attracted to the Schindlerkar and Mattun areas where the runs are less pisted and more natural. For the real adrenaline junkies you can try the backside of Valluga as it heads down towards Zurs. It is recommended to take a local ski guide if accessing this area. You will find lots of off piste and powder fields in this area. For intermediate skiers the ski area in Lech and Zürs are prefect and offer lots of well pisted blue and red runs. The Rendl area is also popular with intermediate skiers and has the benefit of enjoying late afternoon sun on the pistes.
The centre of St Anton is a typical alpine chalet type village with plenty of options for nightlife and après ski. The village rocks late into the night during the ski season with a number of nightclubs and discos. For non skiers there are some excellent spa centers and plenty of shopping options.
