Activities near Bansko

The charming historic town of Bansko can trace its roots back to Thracians (pre Roman) times, long before any skiing arrived.

Its location sits at the bottom of the UNESCO recognised Pirin National Park, nestled on the edge of an expansive plateau with the lower, but no-less beautiful rolling ranges of the Rila and Rhodolpe mountains.

As skiing has expanded, so too has Bansko. Now Bulgaria’s largest, most popular and best-loved ski resort, there is a lively feel to the town and resort with plenty of activities to keep you busy if you’re not planning on skiing.

The town itself is full of Balkan charm and charisma, especially the old town centre, which is a captivating throwback to the village that has now become a ski resort.

APRES & EATING OUT
With a wide range of restaurants, bars and old Mehanas (taverns), Bansko town and mountain has a bustling atmosphere. From international cuisine to traditional Bulgarian treats, there really is something for everyone. If an aprés party is your preferred theme, Bansko has you covered with plenty of mountain bars, town pubs and entertaining nightclubs.

NATURAL BEAUTY
There are two sides to every mountain, especially in Bansko. The natural beauty of the Pirin National Park is clear to see. If you fancy a day off or want to try something different, you’ve come to the right place. With a variety of bustling markets and a wide range of activities on offer, the town has everything you need.

- Go walking or snowshoeing in the mountains (guide can be arranged)
- Visit geothermal mineral springs in local village
- Excursion to one of Bulgaria’s oldest churches
- Spend time wandering around the local markets
- Go up the gondola for the views (separate gondola pass available)
- Horse riding
- Visit Bansko’s old town
- Come back in the summer for our cultural tour

SNOMADS CHALET SUPREME IS AVAILABLE FOR SOLE USE ONLY. The above prices are for the full chalet. Rates shown are for catered stays: breakfast every day and a two-course evening meal on three evenings.

SHORT STAYS AVAILABLE:
We welcome enquiries from guests wishing to stay less than our usual 7 nights. Please note that we are able to accommodate these as long as they are within a single Saturday-to-Saturday period. For example, arriving on a Sunday and leaving on a Wednesday would be fine, but arriving on a Wednesday and leaving on a Monday would not. Short stays will receive fewer catered evening meals.

Chalet Supreme Review

Chalet Supreme was homely and comfortable and suited us well. The location was ok but totally relied on what proved to be an efficient shuttle service to and from the gondala. Our main issue was with the chalet manager who lacked and leadership or assertiveness’s. We had to drag information from him and generally he seemed uncertain of everything and quite nervous. The kitchen staff and the driver were very helpful. The food was an issue. The food was presented as a buffet - but since we were the table at the back there was often little left by the time we got served. Sometimes more was brought out - but again it would be helpful to have been told this instead of having to ask everything! Overall a good place to stay with family as we had our own accommodation - but we are generally used to much better food on a skiing holiday . Very good value but would happily pay more fir better food.
