Chez Michelle is a spacious (70m2) fully equipped 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom self-catering apartment in the historic Samoens farming hamlet of Vallon d'en Bas. It's an easy 900m (10 minutes) walk to the picturesque centre of Samoens and 8 minutes by the free ski bus to the high speed Grand Massif Express lift – the ski bus stop is literally right outside the apartment.

Located in the heart of the Haute-Savoie region of the French Alps, Chez Michelle is only an hour's drive from Geneva airport and within easy reach of some of the most extensive skiing, snowboarding, walking and mountain biking trails in Europe.

Spread over two floors, the light and spacious accommodation comfortably sleeps 6, and there's a sofa bed for a further 2 in the mezzanine TV area.

About Samoens

One of the largest linked ski areas in Europe, the Grand Massif boasts over 75 lifts and 265 kilometres of slopes spread across 5 resorts: Flaine, Morillon, Les Carroz, Sixt and Samoens. Due to its north and north-west facing slopes and its close proximity to Mont Blanc, the Grand Massif area has one of the best snow records of any resort in the French Alps.

The ski domain caters for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities – from beginner to advanced. It has over 15 green runs, 53 blue, 51 red and 14 black, as well as extensive off-piste areas to explore. For those into jumps and tricks, there are some excellent JAM snow parks too.

As if that's not enough, the ski resorts of Les Gets and Morzine are about 30 minutes away by car for access to Avoriaz and the huge Portes de Soleil ski domain. Alternatively, Chamonix is only a 45-minute drive away for some of the most revered off-piste skiing in the world.

Cross Country Skiing - Endless opportunities in the local area and cross country skiing in the Col de Joux Plane is almost guaranteed from November to April at an altitude of 1700m with magnificent views over Mont Blanc (shuttle bus runs from the centre of Samoens).

Raquettes (Snow Shoe Trekking) - Guided snow shoeing for all ages and levels on specially prepared tracks in Sixt Fer A Cheval (Nature Reserve), Verchaix, Morillon and Joux Plane.

Ice Skating - There is a 1456m2 public ice rink in the centre of town which is open from October to April each year at certain times of the day and evening. The rink also hosts ice hockey matches, ice skating galas and disco evenings.

Activities near Samoens

For those with or without your own transport, a gentle stroll through Samoens' farming hamlets of Vallon d'en Bas and Vallon d'en Haut is an absolute must and literally right on the doorstep of Chez Michelle. Samoens itself also host to a number of festivals and events throughout the year; details are available from the Samoens Tourist Office.

Just a 10 mins drive from Chez Michelle is Sixt where you can visit the Abbey, walk along the valley floor of the Cirque du Fer à Cheval national park or hike around and above it. There's also the Gorges des Tines which you can admire from the bridge above or as you white water raft through it.

Chamonix, Annecy, Yvoire, Evian les Bains and Geneva are all less than an hour's drive from Samoens - they and the many other beautiful villages, towns and cities in the area are well worth a visit.

There's an almost infinite number of things to see and do in and around Samoens all year round!
