Description
La Ferme de Florent is a beautifully restored 18th century farmhouse. When restoring it we retained as many of the original features as possible, such as the huge beams and fire place in the lounge, whilst adding rooms, bathrooms and heating. We also have a sauna, games room with pool table, TV room with wii etc and wifi. We love the result and hope you will too. The chalet is ocated righ ton the piste making this a real ski-in ski-out chalet. In 2016 we have re-furbished the Chalet ready for our move from self catered to catered and we think the new furniture and fittings look great.
The Farmhouse is on piste so it is ideal for skiers and boarders, there are also lots of beautiful walks, charming restaurants and cross country ski slopes nearby for non skiers. In summer the Col de La Colombier is a famous cycle route, we often see La Tour de France go by. The Aravis are also popular for paraponting, mountain biking and walking. There is a great skating rink, large outdoor pool complex, crazy golf, tree walk/ climbing routes and many more activities in Grand Bornand, just down the road. Chinaillon itself is a lovely village with plenty of shops, bars restaurants and spa's to keep anyone happy, summer and winter.
The chalet is on 3 floors. The middle floor has 6 bedrooms, designed to provide maximum comfort, with an en suite bath or shower room, and a flat screen television in every room. The top floor of the chalet has the TV room, sauna and kitchen, the rest is left open plan (44ft x 30ft) with a dining area and several comfortable seating areas with lots of comfy sofas and a huge, central open fire. This means that you get the beauty of a traditional farm house and plenty of warmth and comfort after a day of fresh air and exercise. There are several large balconies for those sunny days and plenty of outdoor furniture, barbeque etc to enable you to enjoy the sun.
Chinaillon is where you access the Grand Bornand ski area and has is 90km of skiing ranging from cruising greens to one of the steepest blacks in Europe. Most of the pistes are very wide and there is plenty of off piste. Included in the Aravis ski pass are La Clusaz ski area with 120km of piste within easy reach should you want more variety.
The ground floor of the chalet houses the ski/ board and boot room as well as a games room with pool table and dart board. Photo's of plans for each floor are attached..

About Le Grand Bornand
The Grand Bornand ski area is set in the stunning Aravis mountains. If you stay in Grand Bornand itself you will have to get a bubble lift up to Chinaillon for the skiing. If you stay in Chinaillon itself you have easy access to 90km of skiing ranging from cruising greens to one of the steepest blacks in Europe. Most of the pistes are lovely and wide and the resort is ideal for families due to the variety of slopes and ease of access. There is also plenty of challenging off piste which we will be happy to show you, snow permitting! Included in the Aravis ski pass is La Clusaz with 120km of piste, this is within easy reach should you want more variety.
All the slopes are groomed every night, apart from the blacks which become very challenging after a good dump of snow. This means that there area always some lovely wide groomed slopes for intermediates and those who want to avoid bumps. For those of you who have skied North America, the resort resembles that rather than the tight narrow runs to be found in many Austrian resorts. There is also an extensive snow park with jumps from green to black, rails, half pipe and 2 skier cross tracks, it is rated as one of the top 10 parks in France.
There is a significant amount of cross country skiing (ski de fond) in Le Grand Bornand. Grand Bornand produced several olympians and is justly proud of there achievements, one silver and a bronze medal in the last olympics. There are 2 areas that you can do this locally, one the vallee Bouchet of 20+km and one in chinaillon of 12+km. It is also possible to ski over the Lac de Confins in La Clusaz. The vallee Bouchet also has facilities to do Biathlon.
There is nordic and skating possible in most areas and the piste (is the correct for cross country!) are always well prepared. There are several other places close by, the plataeu de Glieres(30mins), La Clusaz(20mins) and Manigod(25mins) which looks beautiful when I skied past it recently. So there is plenty of choice of location and types of activity, there are also, for the more adventurous half and full marathon races in most of these locations during the year.
In the summer CHinaillon regularly sees the Tour de France heading through it as we are on the road leading up to the Col de Colombier This makes the area popular with cyclists, walkers and climbers. For those wanting something less manic there is a beautiful 9 hole golf course, a large outdoor swimming pool complex, GO Ape style tree climbing routes, tennis courts, painting and pottery courses in the main town of Grand BOrnand. There is also the beautiful medieval city of Annecy only 40 minutes away and many stunning villages and market towns to visit for markets. walks or a relax in the sun and some people watching.
