Situated right in the centre of "La Falaise", one of the most popular quarters of Avoriaz, Chalet Ardoisière is a private ski-in, ski-out deluxe chalet for 8 – 10 people offering direct access to the ski lifts. From its large south facing balconies Chalet Ardoisière enjoys uninterrupted south facing views of the mountains and pistes and benefits from its own private outdoor hot-tub. The chalet is offered on a self-catering basis.

With its own front door opening directly onto the snow, Chalet Ardoisière is truly ski-in / ski-out yet all the facilities of the fun-filled village of Avoriaz including cafes, restaurants, ski schools, sledging, shops and supermarkets are right at hand.

About Avoriaz
Sitting high up at 1800 meters at the very heart of the massive Portes du Soleil (PDS) in the French Alpine region of the Haute Savoie, Avoriaz 1800 is one of the most accessible ski resorts in Europe, being only 60 miles from Geneva international airport or approximately 8 ½ hours drive from the Channel ports.
The town of Avoriaz is famous for its bizarre futuristic and eclectic architecture of cedar wood clad buildings built to blend in with the surrounding cliffs. It is easily reached by either road or cable car from Morzine, and offers incredible direct access to the slopes.
Being the highest resort in the area, Avoriaz offers incredible alpine views of Lac Leman, Les Dents du Midi and Les Dents Blanches mountain ranges.
However you travel, Avoriaz is easy to reach. We offer a transfer service on a shared or private basis from Geneva airport or local train stations and for those who prefer to drive secure parking both indoors and outdoors are available in resort.
Great for Families:
A further unique is that Avoriaz is the only car-free ski resort in France. The complete lack of traffic makes it particularly suitable for families and children. Transport in the resort is by horse drawn sledge and tanksi (a track type vehicle), ski or sledge. There is sledging in the centre of town, an active calendar of events throughout the season with numerous special events, festivals, firework displays, competitions and many children's activities that change on a weekly basis. There is also a child’s only all day ski school and excellent all day crèche so children and babies from 3 months are well catered for.
Self Catering:
Avoriaz is very much a self-catering resort. Indeed, there is only 1 hotel in town, with the rest of the accommodation given over to chalets and apartments. With this in mind, there are ample shopping opportunities in Avoriaz that allow you to buy locally all that you will need. There are 3 supermarkets in town which offer a wide selection of fresh meat, fish, fruit and vegetables in addition to a wide range of frozen and pre-prepared food, hardware and utility products. There are 4 bakeries providing a delicious array of fresh bread, pastries and cakes and if you fancy a night off from cooking but don’t want to go out, there are several take-away pizza restaurants, a burger bar and freshly cooked local meals and rotisserie chickens available to take-away from the supermarkets.
Snow Sure
Avoriaz enjoys an average annual snow fall of 8 meters; making it not only the most snow sure resort in the whole of the French Alps, but according to a recent survey Avoriaz is the 5th snowiest resort in Europe. LINK
Portes du Soleil ski area:
The Portes du Soleil ski area is the largest internationally linked ski area in the world. It comprises 12 resorts that criss-cross the French / Swiss border. It offers an unbelievable amount of ski-ing with its network of 195 lifts on a single lift pass with 266 pistes totalling 650km, 10 snow parks and 89 slope side restaurants. Morzine, Chatel, Morgins and Champery are just some of the resorts that are linked to Avoriaz.
Avoriaz is the jewel in the crown of the area being both staggering in concept, snow sure and traffic free and being the only resort in the centre, offers the best links to the entire area. Whatever your level of ski-ing, both on and off piste, above, below or in the trees or whether you are a boarder, love the pipes and parks or prefer cross country Avoriaz has a variety of terrain for everyone.
