Les Loups is a luxury, privately owned Ski Chalet offering self-catered accommodation for up to eight on the fringes of Chatel village in the stunning and extensive Portes du Soleil ski area.

Our aim is to provide you with a luxury environment in which you can relax and enjoy yourselves after a hard day on the slopes.

The chalet has been designed, decorated and furnished to an exceptional standard. Design is traditional with a contemporary twist. Specially commissioned traditional wooden tables blend effortlessly with with state of the art appliances. Original artwork from three continents complements the designer's colour schemes.

Luxury comes as standard in Chalet Les Loups, from the hand crafted Maple and granite kitchen, 42" Plasma TV, DVD and Wii, iPod docking stations, to the supplied quality linen and fluffy towels. Le Creuset pans, Neff appliances, Molton Brown Handwash and Moisturiser...no expense has been spared.

We provide you with a welcome basket of provisions to get you started: Quality Red Wine, Premier Cru Champagne, Fresh Bread, Butter, Jam, Cereal, Milk, Juice, Crisps, Biscuits, Tea and Fresh Coffee to get your holiday off to the best possible start !

Underfloor heating means cold feet are a thing of the past!

From the south facing balconies the views are spectacular, towards the awe inspiring Dents du Midi in one direction, across the Abondance Valley the other. You can never tire of views like these.

Stunning chalet, stunning views..... and of course the skiing. Portes du Soleil, one of the largest ski areas in the world, 650kms of pisted runs. No need to ski the same run twice. Choose from the huge variety of pistes and off-piste above the tree line towards Avoriaz, or the multitude of runs through the trees around Chatel and Chapelle d'Abondance. There is so much to choose from we couldn't begin to do it credit.The Alps make a stunning base for your next Summer holiday too.

When designing Chalet Les Loups we wanted to combine the look of a traditional Savoyard Chalet with all the modern comforts and luxuries you could wish for. The Chalet was completed in the summer of 2005, and is decorated and furnished to an exceptionally high standard with all the amenities you could wish for from a luxury retreat.

We aim to provide everything that we can, to form the basis of your fantastic holiday. A welcome pack will greet you, consisting of some treats for your first night and provisions for breakfast, along with other essentials.

All linen and towels are provided and included in the cost. A washing machine and drier are at your disposal and a travel cot is available if required.

To keep the chalet at the high standards expected by our guests, Les Loups is Non Smoking and we do not allow pets.

Outside, Les Loups has a wonderful wooden deck, and balconies leading off both the living room and two of the bedrooms. Views to the Dent du Midi mountain range are spectacular, as is the sun coming up over the mountains in the morning. The sound of a small mountain stream burbling in the background adds to the relaxing tranquility of the location.

About Chatel

The Portes du Soleil ski area, the largest linked ski area in the world.
Châtel is in the heart of the Franco-Swiss ski domain called the Portes du Soleil. The domain, one of the largest in Europe, covers 14 resorts:
8 French, including Châtel, Avoriaz, Morzine, Montriond, les Gets , St Jean d’Aulps, Abondance and la Chapelle; and 6 Swiss: Champéry, Torgon, Morgins and les Crosets Val d’Illiez, Champoussin.

In all it has over 400 miles of ski slopes, well-served by 208 ski-lifts all accessible using a single, inclusive card.
The Châtel ski domain itself offers a wide range of magnificent opportunities for skiing, both for those who come for scenery on the mountain and those looking for that ultimate experience on the slopes!

Châtel consists of two main sectors: Barbossine / Super-Châtel and Linga / Pré-la-Joux, lying between 1100m and 2200m (3600 ft and 7200 ft).

The Châtel ski domain has 49 ski slopes : 5 black, 16 red, 14 blue and 14 green with a total length of 83 km (53 miles).

Most clients choose to buy the Portes du Soleil Ski Pass which covers all the resorts mentioned and is fantastic value compared to many other ski areas in France. If however you are a beginner or are happy with a smaller ski area the inclusive Châtel ski pass is also valid for the Swiss resort of Torgon, the Corbeau section of the Swiss resort, Morgins, as well as the Braitaz section of La Chapelle d’Abondance, so you still get to ski 130 km (80 miles) of superb, thrilling ski slopes!!

Les Loups is located in the hamleau of Ville du Nant, midway between the resorts of La Chapelle d’ Abondance (1.5km) and Chatel (2.5km). Quieter than in the middle of the village, but in many ways more convenient.
Close to the Intermarche supermarket for your groceries. Close to both villages for a superb choice of restaurants.

The nearest ski lift, Le Panthiaz is just under 1km away and provides direct access to the uncrowded slopes of La Chapelle d’ Abondance and the Portes du Soleil ski circuit. We are also ideally positioned to take the lower road, avoiding Chatel village, directly to the lifts at Linga and Pre-la-Joux and thus avoiding any queuing in the centre of the village. La Chapelle d'Abondance is also rightly famous for it's spectacular 35km Cross Country ski route, tracking the River Dranse through the valley.

The villages in this region are not just ski resorts, they are working farming communities. Abondance is world famous for it's cheese, which should not be missed whilst in the region. In the summer months the hills are alive to the sound of cow bells.

Spectacular views towards the Dent du Midi mountain range from the deck of the chalet as well as to the pistes across the valley make this a stunning location. There really is nothing better than watching the sun come up over the mountains in the morning beckoning in another great day's skiing

With the Ski Navette (free to lift pass holders) stopping at the bottom of the road (less than 300m) taking you one stop up the hill to Chatel village or one stop down to Le Panthiaz lift you are never far from the action.

To get the most out of the area we recommend that guests either bring their own car or hire a car at the airport. Not only will you have the convenience of a car all the time, but the cost is surprisingly little different to a transfer each way. We can of course recommend both car hire companies as well as local taxi companies.

If, on the day before arrival, any of the circumstances outlined below apply to your booked dates, and this results in your booking being cancelled, then you will be entitled to either a 100% refund of your accommodation payments or a 100% credit note depending on the applicable circumstances.


Valid circumstances covered by these Covid-19 cancellation terms are limited to:

  • official closure of the property due to Covid-19 restrictions - 100% refund applies in this case
  • if the government of the country where the property is located, imposes a mandatory travel restriction preventing travel either to the country or to the property, or imposes a mandatory quarantine on arrival - 100% refund applies in this case
  • if the government of your country of departure, imposes a mandatory travel restriction preventing travel either to the country or region where the property is located - 100% credit note applies in this case
  • if the government of your country of departure, advises against all non essential travel to the country or region where the property is located - 100% credit note applies in this case

All other reasons will not be considered a valid reason to utilise the Covid-19 cancellation terms, and the standard cancellation terms will apply. These include, but are not limited to:

  • an unwillingness to travel
  • an inability to travel due to medical reasons (including any related to Covid-19)
  • an inability to travel due to vaccination status
  • individual or household stay-at-home orders

These Covid-19 cancellation terms are valid up to the day before arrival. After this date there will be no refund or credit note should Covid-19 have an impact upon your booking.


Your country of departure will be determined by the address used at the time of booking and this address will apply to all parties on the booking.


It is your responsibility to comply with all relevant health and/or vaccination requirements in the countries you are travelling to and from.


Where a credit note is issued this will be valid for 12 months and can be used against a future booking in the property. The arrival date of the future booking must be within 15 months from your original arrival date.
