Description
Situated in the picturesque French alpine village of Les Gets, Nomad is a traditional chalet with panoramic views of the resort. The chalet is fully equipped for all the needs of a family holiday and is within easy walking distance of the village centre. Nomad is the 'Wallington family's' French home. You will find photo's and belonging scattered around which give Nomad a feeling of warmth. Summer or winter, its a relaxing retreat in the mountains.
Nomad has 5 bedrooms - two twin rooms and one double room on the top floor and two x 4 man bunk rooms on the bottom floor; maximum occupancy 14. There are two bathrooms ( with shower, bath, sink and loo ) on the top floor, a loo on the middle floor and a bathroom on the bottom floor with double sink, bath, shower and loo.
Nomad is situated on the Mt Chery side of the village overlooking the village and Chavannes ski slopes. It is 700m from the centre of the village and ski lifts. The ski shops in the village all have ski rooms where you can leave your boots and ski’s overnight so you don’t have to carry them back to the chalet. Nomad is approximately one hour from Geneva by car / transfer.
There is a DVD player and TV ( including UK Freeview ) in the play room as well as a table tennis table. I am afraid that the small library of DVD’s that we had has been diminished/lost/scratched over the course of time so please do bring any DVD’s out with you that you would like to watch. Our agents also have a free DVD library. There is a stereo in the sitting room that plays CD’s and has an i-pod docking station, as well as wifi (free) and a selection of games and books. Please feel free to add to the selection but we would ask you not to remove any!
Cleaning - The chalet will be cleaned before your arrival but we do expect it to be left in a clean and tidy state on your departure. If you would like additional help cleaning either during your stay or on the final day this can be booked through our agents on the booking form. The chalet also has an ironing board and iron.
Childrens equipment. - There is a child's high chair and travel cot for guests use. There is also a small amount of children's cutlery.

About Les Gets
Ski Holidays in Les Gets:
The village is family orientated and caters for all levels of skiing, from beginner to expert on ski’s or boards. If required there are English speaking French instructors at the ESF or Ecole 360. There is also the English ski school in the village. Again if required there are various creche’s in the village both English and French, including the Jardin de Ski run by the ESF, which combines skiing with childcare and is available all day.
Food and Wine
Les Gets has got simply hundreds of restaurants and bars, both on and off the mountain. The local specialities are based around cheese and potatoes but there is some very fine dining to be had as well. A visit to the tourist office will furnish you with a directory of whats on offer.
Village Entertainment
During the skiing season there is something happening in the village each night and it always involves a huge 'brass bath' of simmering and free Vin Chaud. There are fireworks, ski demonstrations, evening races, torch light procession's, music, entertainers and much more. Around Christmas it is totally magical with Pere Noel rightly having a starring role.
Village Activities
There is bowling, a cinema, ice skating, a church, Musee de Musique de Mechanique, paraponting and in the summer tennis courts, merry-go-round, devil carts, golf and all the usual summer activities.
Shopping & Amenities
There are three super markets, five banks all with ATM's, chemists as well as endless ski / clothes / kit shops. There is a tourist office, postoffice , police station and Firestation ( Tel Number 18 ).There are excellents butchers and bakers and there is little you cannot buy in Les Gets. However if you are lacking something, Morzine, three miles away is bound to have it.
Skiing in Les Gets:
Nomad is within the Ski Reigon of the Portes du Soleil - With more than 650 km of marked pistes and about 200 lifts in total, spread over 14 valleys and about 400 square miles (1036 square km).
Winter is an exciting time at Nomad with activities such as Skiing - Alpine and cross country, back country and freeride skiing areas, ski trails, race competitions open to all comers ( visitors included ), ice skating, paraponting, pietons ( snow shoes ) and Jump park all available in the Les Get area. Further afield there are skidoo trails ( Sommard / Avoriaz ), heli skiing ( Chamonix ), Husky trails ( Avoriaz ) and advanced jump park ( Avoriaz ).
Summer in Les Gets:
So much to do with so little time.....! It is debatable that there is more to do in the summer than the winter,
There is mountain biking, trail cycling, walking ( the chairlifts work during the summer to ferry you and, if needs be, your bike to the top of the mountain ), swimming in the lake, highwire course, paraponting, golf, devil karts, fishing, tennis, merry-go-round and just lying in the meadows listerning to the cow bells.
Further a field there is luge in Morzine, white water rafting and river body surfing in Sixt and canoeing in lake Montriond. Then places to visit like Anncey, Evian and Yvoire.
All the restaurants are open for al fresco eating if you can drag yourself away from the balcony at Nomad that overlooks everything that is going on. Add to this reliably hot weather ( with the odd thunder storm ) and you have a perfect summer destination.
Alternatively you can cut out the active part and just wander down to the village for lunch.....!
