Description
Located at les Granges, overlooking the Tarentaise Valley, La Grange d’Alice is a fairy tale-like chalet with modern amenities. This is a FULLY CATERED property. Please enquiry about our catering if you wish to know what it entails.
You can literally ski right up to the door because of its ski-in/lift-out location and put your skis in the adjacent ski room before pulling off your boots and entering the cozy living room.
La Grange d’Alice is a genuine 200 year-old ‘chalet d’alpage’ that has been carefully restored using old, locally sourced materials, it also boasts new fittings and modern facilities such as solar-powered under-floor heating. The chalet retains a real mountain atmosphere while also being comfortable and spacious.
On the ground floor you’ll find the large open plan kitchen/dining/living area and a twin and double bedroom. Both ensuite.
There’s underfloor heating throughout the ground floor (mainly solar powered). The dining room has a door leading to a large decked terrace facing south from the chalet and there is an 8 person heated hot tub.
On the first floor a further three twin bedrooms and a family room (sleeps 4) are located. The family room and one twin bedroom have their own ensuite shower rooms. The large bathroom with tub is shared between the other two twin bedrooms.
Next to the bathroom there is a sauna free of use and two toilets.
On this floor there is a kids’ space set up with a TV and Chromecast. Free WiFi throughout the chalet.
Large glazed doors leading from the upstairs lounge area to a long balcony with views towards La Plagne and Valmorel. The feeling is airy and spacious, with old wood from the local forest used throughout, and a few other quirky surprises!
The chalet is within walking distance to the free funicular (150m) which takes you up to Arc1600 in 4 minutes.
In the afternoon you ski right to the back door via a blue or red piste.

About Les Arcs
Chalet La Grange d'Alice is an original Savoyard farming building, where people and animals lived during the summer months when cattle grazed on the vast flower-filled meadows. The chalet is fully renovated with modern day amenities without losing the original features which make this property unique.
You can ski right to the door of the chalets via the easy blue run ‘Bois De Saule’ or the bit faster Cachette-Funicular red run from Arc 1600. And we are located about 150m from the Les Arcs Express Funicular (quick access to the centre of Arc 1600 or Bourg Saint Maurice) and a (free) Millerette beginners ski area.
Around the chalet there is plenty place for nature walks and safe, car-free space for tobogganing and snowman building.

Snow, Sun & Great Company in Les Arcs
Thank you, Floortje, Bart, Daan and Merel, for an amazing week in Les Arcs!
We enjoyed fantastic weather and snow conditions, made even better by the delicious breakfast each morning, the sweet afternoon surprises, and the cosy dinners to end the day — with a special shout-out for the (local) cheese tastings!

A wonderful chalet experience, but inconvenient location
This is a beautiful, spacious and comfortable chalet with bags of traditional charm. We were a group of 13 but it was a generous size compared to previous chalet experiences. The hot tub and sauna are great. Our hosts were friendly and accommodating, but seemed a little inexperienced. Unlike previous chalets we've stayed at, drinks are only included during the meal.
The main thing to be aware of is the location, which is 5 mins walk in ski boots to the midway stop on the funicular up to Arc 1600. This is inconvenient because the funicular typically runs every 20 mins to this stop and at some times of the day only once an hour. Arc 1600 is itself not as well-connected as some of the other Arcs. It is easy to get stuck on the other side of the ridge at Arc 2000 or 1950 if you miss the last lift over the top at around 4.20pm. Then the only way back to 1600 is on the unpleasantly crowded navette bus. Similarly, if you get stuck in Arc 1800. We were there over new year and there was no snow below 1600 so no chance of skiing down to the chalet. That said, the location is reflected in the price compared to comparable chalets higher up.
If you are driving, it is about 15 mins up the winding road from Bourg St Maurice and there is dedicated parking at the chalet.

Excellent early season stay
We stayed as a small group during the first week of the season. The chalet facilities were excellent. It was located very close to the funicular between Arc 1600 and Bourg Saint Maurice making for quick access to the slopes. Hosts at the chalet (Bart and Flora) were fantastic. We received a really nice welcome and they provided helpful advice and recommendations throughout our stay. The highlight was the food! Interesting and tasty menus every night, amazing cakes during the afternoon and a great breakfast to start the day. We LOVED our stay. Thank you

Home from Home
Merel and Daan were great hosts. The food was of a very high standard and the service was super efficient and friendly. The chalet is in a lovely spot, full of charm and very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the sauna and outdoor hot tub. Very handy 5 min walk to the furnicular to Arc 1600 or down to Bourg St Maurice. Great stay would love to return.
