There are around 60 mountain lakes such as the Prebersee or the Schlierersee, the Lungau/Katschberg golf club is in the immediate vicinity of the city center and for swimming fun you can visit the St. Margarethen bathing pond, the public swimming pool in St. Michael or the bathing island in Tamsweg.
In Sankt Margarethen im Lungau you can particularly enjoy the Katschberg-Aineck ski area. This ski area offers 70 kilometers of slopes and 16 lifts. Skiers and snowboarders can look forward to 3 other ski areas in the Salzburg Lungau: the Grosseck-Speiereck, Fanningberg and Obertauern ski areas with a total of over 200 kilometers of slopes.
There are numerous shops for daily needs and a good selection of restaurants in the town. You can reach the state capital Salzburg by car in around 1.5 hours.
