About St Jean d'Aulps

🌤️ Climate at Col du Corbier
Col du Corbier sits at 1,230–1,237m in the Chablais mountains, giving it a true mountain climate with four distinct seasons.
• Summers are pleasantly warm, fresh, and sunny—ideal for hiking, biking, and panoramic viewpoints. Temperatures stay comfortable thanks to the altitude, and the air is crisp and clean.
• Winters are cold and snowy, with reliable snow cover that transforms the pass into a peaceful alpine playground for families, snowshoeing, ski touring, and gentle first‑snow experiences.
• The climate overall is defined as montagnard—cooler than the valleys below, with rapid weather changes and beautifully clear skies after snowfall.
This makes Col du Corbier a year‑round destination for nature lovers seeking calm, fresh air, and authentic mountain atmosphere.

🏔️ The Local Area
Col du Corbier lies between the Vallée d’Aulps and the Vallée d’Abondance, perched above the village of Le Biot and surrounded by two emblematic peaks:
• Mont Ouzon (1,880m) to the north
• Montagne de Drouzin (1,621m) to the south

The area is known for its peaceful, unspoilt setting—a “montagne douce” environment perfect for families, beginners, and anyone seeking a quieter alternative to the larger resorts.
🌞 In Summer
• Gentle, well‑marked trails wind through alpine meadows, forests, and ridgelines.
• From Mont Ouzon, visitors enjoy exceptional views of Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc.
• The area is popular for family walks, mountain biking, and trail running, with routes for all levels.
❄️ In Winter
• The pass becomes a calm, snowy retreat ideal for young children’s first experiences of snow, sledging, and safe play areas.
• It’s a favourite spot for snowshoeing through quiet forests and open landscapes.
• Several ski touring itineraries start directly from the col, offering a more adventurous way to explore the mountains.
