Description
Chalet Alpine Friends is a family-run, exclusive-use catered chalet in Châtel, Portes du Soleil, accommodating up to 8 guests in 4 ensuite bedrooms. We offer flexible 5–7-night stays, with Saturday or Sunday arrivals, subject to availability. With a free ski bus just 150 metres away and the possibility of skiing back to the chalet when snow conditions allow, it's an excellent base for exploring the Portes du Soleil, including Avoriaz.

**Catered chalet holidays:**
Our standard 7-night package includes accommodation, breakfast each morning, daily afternoon tea and 6 catered evening meals with wine.
We also welcome shorter stays of 5 or 6 nights, with catering adjusted to suit the length of your holiday.
We provide practical support before and during your stay, including help with ski hire, lift passes, travel arrangements, local information and holiday planning.
**Location:**
The chalet is situated on Chemin de Très-les-Pierres, just outside the centre of Châtel.
The free ski bus stops approximately 150 metres from the chalet and takes around 5 minutes to reach the Linga ski lifts. Pré-la-Joux is also just a short drive away, providing excellent access towards Avoriaz and the wider Portes du Soleil ski area.
When snow conditions allow, guests can ski back to the chalet at the end of the day. Although the chalet is not ski-out, this offers a convenient way to finish a day's skiing without needing the return bus.
For evenings out, there is a friendly après-ski bar within walking distance, while Châtel village centre is approximately an 8-minute drive away, offering restaurants, shops and other amenities.
**Your hosts:**
The chalet is run by Luke and Grace Friend, an English family with extensive experience in the Portes du Soleil and chalet hospitality.
We live in a separate part of the property and are on hand throughout your stay, while guests enjoy exclusive use of the chalet accommodation.
Our aim is to provide a well-hosted, good-value ski holiday with comfortable accommodation, home-cooked food and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

Rates are for exclusive use of the catered chalet for up to 8 guests, based on 7-night stays. Winter catered stays include breakfast, afternoon tea, six evening meals, wine with dinner and practical support before and during the stay. Changeover is normally Sunday. A baby or small child may be accommodated in addition to the standard capacity by prior arrangement, subject to suitability. Shorter stays or room-by-room availability may occasionally be possible during selected quieter weeks, subject to availability.

About Chatel
Châtel is a traditional Savoyard mountain village in the Abondance valley, close to the Swiss border and part of the Portes du Soleil ski area. The region offers beautiful Alpine scenery, forested slopes, mountain restaurants and a strong local cheese-making heritage. In winter it is ideal for skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing, while summer brings walking, mountain biking, lake activities and easy access to nearby villages such as Abondance, La Chapelle-d’Abondance and Morzine.
Activities near Chatel
In winter, Châtel offers excellent access to the Portes du Soleil ski area, with skiing and snowboarding across both France and Switzerland. Guests can also enjoy snowshoeing, sledging, mountain restaurants, village shops and après-ski in Châtel and the Linga area. The resort is well suited to families, with ski schools, beginner areas and a good choice of activities away from the slopes.
In summer, the area is popular for mountain biking, walking, trail running, lake swimming and scenic drives through the Abondance valley. Nearby places to visit include Lac de Vonnes, Abondance, La Chapelle-d’Abondance, Morzine, Avoriaz and Lake Geneva. Châtel also hosts seasonal events, markets and mountain festivals throughout the year, giving the village an active but still traditional Alpine feel.
