About Montgenèvre
A sunny, family-friendly and authentic resort straddling the French-Italian border — France's 5th largest ski area in winter, with hiking straight from the village in summer. We've been in love with Montgenèvre for 7 years (we live in Lyon) and are delighted to welcome guests to our own chalet, built in 2025, for both the winter and summer seasons.

Montgenèvre is a sunny, family-friendly ski resort in the Southern French Alps, sitting right on the border with Italy at 1,860m. It's part of the Voie Lactée / Via Lattea (Milky Way) ski area — one of the largest interconnected ski domains in Europe, with over 400km of pistes shared between France and Italy, including the Italian resorts of Sestriere, Sauze d'Oulx and Claviere.
Known for excellent snow reliability and long sunshine hours, Montgenèvre offers skiing for all levels, a lively village centre, and easy access to Turin (Italy) for a day trip

Montgenèvre sits at the heart of the Voie Lactée/Via Lattea ski area — over 400km of interconnected pistes shared between France and Italy, with all levels catered for and easy day-trip access to Sestriere, Sauze d'Oulx and Turin (Italy). Montgenevre is also going to be one of the host resort for the 2030 Olympics games in France.
Beyond skiing, the resort runs a lively winter programme throughout the season (late November to mid-April): torchlight descents and fireworks on the snow front, live outdoor concerts and themed evenings, and free family activities including craft workshops, storytelling and snow games.
Christmas and New Year bring special events: Santa's arrival on skis on 24 December, and a spectacular light show over the mountain on New Year's Eve, with hot chocolate and live music. During February half-term, additional evening activities run on the slopes, including extended "Session Ski+" hours.
For non-skiing days, the Durancia wellness centre (spa, pool, sauna) is a short walk from the chalet, and Turin is an easy day trip across the Italian border.
