Description
The River Pad is a cosy (23m2) well-equipped home next to the river in Morzine’s old town area. A large sunny terrace and small garage add to the convenience, with views of the Pleney mountain and surrounding chalets from the living room.
The best thing about staying at the River Pad is undoubtedly it’s location. Udrezants is in the quieter, older part of town and the apartment is a 3-minute downhill walk to the Place de l’Eglise and the restaurants, bars, and shops of Rue du Bourg. A bus stop is located just outside the building, making getting to and from the ski lifts in winter easy. Enjoy a peaceful, car-free stay with easy access to everything, without the noise of being in the middle of it.
The River Pad is best suited to 3 adults, or 2 adults with children. The layout works brilliantly for a couple, a solo remote worker (fibre broadband), or a family. It’s also a favourite with families visiting their family member who has moved here permenantly! If your group is 4 adults, it’ll be a snug fit rather than a comfortable one, please message if this is the case and I will happily talk you through it.
The sleeping space consists of two bunk beds (190cm x 90cm) in a ‘coin montagne’, separated by a door from the living area. A sofa bed (140cm x 190cm) in the main living area provides an additional sleeping space for 2 people. Bikes and skis can be stored in a large locker.
A large, south-facing terrace is a genuine sun trap and a tough place to leave, with sunset views out towards the Pleney and Roc D’Enfer as well as across to some beautiful old chalets. The river Dranse runs immediately alongside the terrace. You will hear the river inside, although closing the curtains and shutters softens it. Returning guests love it, but it’s worth knowing if you’re sensitive to background sound.
The River Pad is still a home part of the year. It is filled with furntiture and items that have been lovingly restored, and small improvements are made in between each season - returning guests are often surprised!

About Morzine
Morzine sits at the heart of the Portes du Soleil, one of the world's largest ski areas, connecting twelve resorts on both sides of the Swiss-French border, about an hour's drive from Geneva, with around 600 km of pistes and roughly 200 lifts.
In the summer, Morzine offers the perfect base for walkers, trail runners, road bikers, and mountain bikers: considered a mountain bike 'mecca', it offers 55 cross-border trail-running routes to explore.
Whilst there is plenty to do in Morzine itself, there's also a whole host of things to do within an hour or two's drive that can be worth making the trip - especially if you are a return visitor to the region.
The shoulder seasons are also worth considering if you are looking for peace and tranquillity. As the snow melts, spring provides a delightful calm for walkers as the mountain flowers come out across the pastures, whilst autumn is a rainbow of colour as the trees turn red and then yellow. It is simply stunning.

Winter
Rock the Pistes (mid-March): A pop/rock festival on the ski slopes every day, with more than 35 concerts across the week. Each day it moves to a different Portes du Soleil resort.
Ice hockey: Morzine’s events calendar includes the local hockey club’s match schedule, which makes a fun evening out after skiing.
Alta-Lumina
Spring & summer
Ultra Trail Morzine-Avoriaz (June): Three distances of 25 km, 50 km and an ultra 100 km, plus a Vertical Kilometre, starting from Morzine.
Fête de la Musique (June): The summer solstice is marked all across France with free concerts, gigs and events.
Pass’Portes du Soleil MTB (late June): A mountain bike ride between 1,000 and 2,450 metres across France and Switzerland, exploring the Portes du Soleil bike area. There are MTB, eMTB, gravel, walking and kids’ tours, so non-riders can join in too.
Morzine-Avoriaz Harley Days (July, every other year): A legendary event held every other summer, bringing more than 10,000 Harley Davidsons to Morzine for a weekend of bikes and live music. The next is expected in 2028.
Bastille Day (14 July): Fireworks usually take place and events are generally free.
Le Musée en Fête, Les Gets (July): A celebration that turns Les Gets into an open-air stage for mechanical music instruments, with a different theme each year.
Trail des Hauts-Forts (early August): Three trail races starting in Morzine and finishing in car-free Avoriaz at 1,800m; the longest takes in the summit of the Hauts-Forts, the highest point in the Chablais. The courses are UTMB® World Series qualifiers, timed three weeks before UTMB.
UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, Les Gets (August): In 2026 this included cross-country short track, downhill and cross-country Olympic races over one weekend. Spectating is free. In 2027, Les Gets will host the cross-country and downhill events at the UCI World Cycling Championships, with the downhill on 26–28 August 2027.
Avoriaz Danse Festival (late August): A dance festival held in Avoriaz at the end of the summer.
Tour de France: Since 1975, Morzine has hosted the Tour de France no fewer than 35 times, with 16 stage finishes and 19 departures. The 2023 stage finished in Morzine after the Col de Joux Plane, 11.6 km of climbing at 8.5%, a climb you can ride yourself from town.
Lac des Mines d’Or and the Col de Coux hike: Both are on the Trail des Hauts-Forts route and make beautiful hikes from Morzine.
Lac de Montriond and the Cascade d’Ardent hike: a lake and waterfall just up the valley from Morzine, great for a walk, picnic or swim.
Road cycling: There are 25 cols within 50 km of Morzine, including Avoriaz, Joux Plane and Ramaz.
Montreux Jazz Festival (July): Montreux is about 80 km from Morzine, and the festival runs for two weeks, so it’s an easy day trip.

There is a small garage with the apartment which you are welcome to use. It measures 2m x 4m and so will not fit 4x4s / estate cars / large vehicles. There is no other parking for the apartment, so if your car will not fit you will need to park in one of the public car parks in town. |
