Located in the French Alps, at a height of 1550m and very close to the Italian border, Sainte Foy is a charming alpine village offering amazing views across the Tarentaise valley, towards the Mont Pourri and Aiguille Rouge mountains.
The village has retained its traditional feel and there is a real authentic charm to the place. It has a good reputation as a great destination of affordable skiing. Ste Foy as it is also known locally is located in the middle of the Haute Tarentaise Valley meaning it is just a few minutes drive from the world famous ski resorts of Val D’Isere, Tignes, Les Arcs and La Plagne. It is the perfect location to explore some of the very best ski resorts in the world.
Sainte Foy itself offer 35km of groomed pistes and a large amount of off pistes areas. The resort is popular with families as it is a great location for a family ski holiday. Experienced skiers are enticed here by the challenging off piste conditions. Being a more tranquil and calm ski destination means that you rarely have to queue for the lifts and you can often find your skiing on fresh snow with no one else on the piste. Sainte Foy does not have a reputation for noisy après ski which is certainly a plus for many skiers however you shouldn’t worry as there are still a few après ski bars and traditional restaurants which will more than keep you happy.
For beginners the resort is the perfect place for a first ski holiday. Direct off the Grand Plan chair lift you will find the wide gentle Plan Bois slope which is prefect for learning to ski. Once you have mastered that you can move on to any of the blue runs. For intermediates there are plenty of red runs that meander around the resort and offer a range of conditions and terrain. For experts they will always enjoy the off piste powder areas. There are two dedicated off piste zones accessible directly from the l’Aiguille lift which are sure to keep you busy. If you want to venture further into the unmarked areas it is always wise to take a ski guide. Despite only having 35km of marked run many expert skiers and snow boarders visit Sainte Foy regularly due to the easy access to the off piste and powder areas.
