Courchevel Ski Holidays
Courchevel is one of the main ski resorts in the 3 Valleys ski area. It is one of the truly famous ski resorts in the world and attracts wealthy skiers from all over the world. The quality of the pistes in Courchevel are second to none and the resort offers something for all skiers regardless of their ability.
Courchevel itself has some 150km of ski runs with plenty of long reds and blacks that run back into the village from the Meribel side of the valley. When linked with the Three Valleys resorts you can enjoy some 600km of ski runs with almost 500 pistes and over 200 ski lifts. This massive ski area consists of the additional ski resorts of Meribel, Val Thorens, Les Menuires and Saint Martin de Belleville.
In reality Courchevel is actually 5 resorts in it sown right. These include La Tania, Courchevel Le Praz 1300, Courchevel 1550, Courchevel 1650 and Courchevel 1850. Each resort offers a different atmosphere from the more traditional alpine style of Le Praz to the glamour and glitz of Courchevel 1850. 1850 is particularly popular with the international jet set and super rich who regularly visit the resort to stay in the super luxury chalets an eat at the famous restaurants.
The skiing in Courchevel offer a misture for all levels. The ski runs here are beautifully maintained and if you like gliding down perfectly pisted wide ski runs then this the place for you. A lot of the slopes are north facing ensuring very reliable snow conditions. There is no shortage of snow cannons to ensure that the snow cover is always ideal and as a result Courchevel ski resort has one of the longest ski seasons in the Alps.
For an easy start to you ski holiday choose the slopes around Courchevel 1650 which is also a lively après ski location in the afternoons. Most pistes here are wide and perfect for beginners or intermediates. For more of a challenge and to enjoy some powder you should check out La Saulire. Once you have conquered the Courchevel area head for the Col de la Loze and from there you can drop into Meribel to explore the rest of the 3 Valleys ski area. The 3 Valleys offer endless skiing and you can easily plan a different route each day.
