Meribel Ski Holidays
Meribel is part of the Three Valleys ski area. With over 600km of skiing this is the largest ski area in the world. The ski resort was originally founded in the 1930’s by a British skier called Peter Lindsay in the 1930's and started with just single lift linked the village area at 1450m with the La Chaudanne area.
In the intervening years the resort has expanded in all direction with many beautiful Meribel chalets being built alongside luxurious apartment complexes. The altiport and lower villages of Chandon and Les Allues have been linked with ski lifts and regular ski buses to the main central village at 1450m.
If you are looking for a ski-in ski-out chalet in Meribel then one of the best locations is in Mottaret at 1750m where you have a special of ski chalet and luxury apartments which all allow you to ski right to the door of you chalet.
As part of the huge Three Valleys ski domain , skiing in Meribel has something to offer all types and levels of mountain enthusiasts. Skiing, boarding, free riding, off pistes, easy greens, wide blues pretty much everything you can slide on is available. There is plenty of back country of those looking for the ultimate challenge.
The 3 Valleys is so large you can ski all day and never have to hit the same piste twice. The lift system is very well organized and it is easy to link into the other 3 Valleys resorts of Courchevel and Val Thorens. The skiing is hugely varied so everyone in the group or family will be sure to find some runs that they like.
After a hard day on the slopes the town offers plenty in terms of nightlife and après ski, with a large selection of restaurants and bars catering to all tastes.
Meribel Chalets
One think that can definitely be said is that the locals have created a beautiful mix of ski accommodation in Meribel. The main form of ski accommodation is classic alpine chalets and also the ski apartments in Meribelare very much designed to look like ski chalets.
All the chalets in Meribel make careful use of local stone and wood to ensure that any new developments blends sympathetically with the local surroundings. Meribel ski accommodation includes luxury catered chalets including chalets with pools or hot tub, yet at the other end of the market you can often find very reasonably priced ski apartments in Meribel with many apartment complexes include pools and spa facilities. For ski-in ski-out chalets it is worth checking out Mottaret which is a little bit above the main village.
If you are looking for a catered chalet or apartment in the 3 Valleys then Meribel is more competitively priced than Courchevel or Val Thorens but at the same time quality is not compromised. There is some lovely self-catering accommodation also available if you prefer and little you privacy.

Summer in Meribel
In summer Meribel is a good base from which to explore the surrounding area. The town remains active and lively in the summer and activities include walking, mountain biking, via ferrata (metal climbing routes in the mountains), road cycling, white water rafting, kayaking and paragliding.
There is an circuit of over 100km of mountain biking trails located between Meribel, Courchevel and Val Thorens with routes to suit all bikers.
