Val Thorens Ski Holiday
If you are looking for guaranteed snow then Val Thorens is the place for you. Located at 2300m altitude in the French Alps, Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe. Linked with the Three Valleys ski area it is hard to find a better location in terms of the amount and quality of skiing.
Val Thorens itself lies in a large open bowl which provides some of the best intermediate skiing in the Three Valleys. The resort has one of the most up-to-date skiing lift systems in the world, with an extraordinary uplift capacity of over 100,000 people per hour. The quality of the lift system means you can move quickly and comfortably around the many peaks and glaciers that surround this ski holiday resort. As mentioned this is indeed a high altitude ski resort with eight skiing peaks over 3000m, which guarantees great snow and one of the longest ski seasons in the Alps.
Just skiing in Val Thorens itself gives you 150km of pistes but when linked with the other Three Valleys ski resorts of Méribel, Courchevel, Les Menuires and St Martin de Belleville the total area reaches 600kms of pisted ski runs with unlimited off pistes and free riding areas. Whatever your skiing ability Val Thorens can cater for the perfect ski holiday.
For beginners there are plenty of gentle runs close to the village where you can build up your confidence before venturing onto the more difficult runs at higher altitude. For the intermediate level you can spend your days cruising around the Three Valleys area using the plentiful blue and red runs that links Meribel, Courchevel and the other villages.
For expert skiers the resort has it all. Choose from steep blacks, off piste free riding or jumps and rails in the snowboard park. There are some particularly challenging runs and mogul fields off the top of the Cime de Caron lift.
